Women’s World Day of Prayer

The WWDP service, written by Christian women, is held on the first Friday of March each year. All are welcome to attend in churches around the world – men, women and children.

The World Day of Prayer worship service has a special annual theme which is developed by women of a different country each year. A national committee then prepares an order of service on that theme. The theme this year is ‘Streams in the Desert’ – the  service prepared by the Christian women of Egypt.

The selected country and its people, becomes the focus of the world’s prayers on the day itself. The first service of the day takes place on the Island of Samoa as dawn breaks. The world is then circled in prayer for 36 hours and the service is celebrated in over 170 countries until the last one of this special day takes place on American Samoa.

For further information go to the WWPD website, or for details of this year’s local service at Ruxley, go here.
