John Bell Weekend

johnbell
John Bell of the Iona Community is a hymn writer, Church of Scotland minister, broadcaster, and travels the world teaching on worship, spirituality and social justice.

The weekend of 13/14th February 2016 will be devoted to Celebrating the Church’s Song, and will be comprised of singing workshops and worship led by John Bell at Ruxley and Stoneleigh Methodist Churches.

On Saturday, February 13th, there will be a day of Singing workshops at Ruxley Church from 10:00am until 4:00pm. The morning will comprise two workshops devoted to the Songs of Lent and Easter, then a lunch break, and in the afternoon a third workshop on Singing the Psalms, and a final ‘Iona’ type worship service. The cost of the day is only £15. Places are limited and pre-registration is required. See below for registration details etc.

On Sunday, February 14th, John will be preaching at Ruxley Church at the 10:00am Holy Communion service.

In the afternoon all are welcome at Stoneleigh Methodist Church from 2:00-4:00pm for a ‘Big Sing’. The two-hour ‘Big Sing’ will focus on ‘God’s Gift of Diversity’, a broad look at all the different types of song and how best they can be sung.

For Saturday 13th reservations are required – £15 to include a ploughman’s lunch, tickets through Anne and Brian Cockram (020 8397 5809), or from Ruxley church office (Tuesday-Friday 9:00-11:30am).

Parking on Saturday and Sunday morning is at Riverview School, KT19 0JP

For the ‘Big Sing’ on Sunday 14th at Stoneleigh no registration is required.
