Worship

Our main service is at 10:30am every Sunday. Service activities usually follow this pattern (but see specific details on our Services page):

  • 1st Sunday of the month: Holy Communion
  • 2nd Sunday of the month: in term time sometimes a Parade service
  • Other Sundays: Morning Worship

We also occasionally hold a ‘Quiet Reflective’ Service in the New Room on the 4th Wednesday of the month. This is usually a self-led group of no more than a handful of people, meeting at 7:30pm for an hour of quiet contemplative thought and worship.

What can you expect at our Services?

Good question. All Sunday Morning services are in the main Church (with a few exceptions) where the seating is on chairs in front of traditional pews. Services are led either by our own Minister or a visiting preacher, or sometimes we have Lay Leaders, either from the pulpit or from the floor of the Church. The morning Service usually lasts 60-70 minutes and a collection will be taken for Church funds or for specific charities.

If there is Holy Communion included in the Service then maybe allow a little longer – there is no obligation to take Communion.

Refreshments are served after all morning services, either in the Church or, on occasions (for instance at a Parade Service or if there is a Baptism included),  in the Link Room.

Children are very welcome at every service and provision is made for them. At a Parade Service the Uniformed Organisations (Scouts, Guides etc) will occupy the front rows.

At all Services you will be met at the door by our Welcome Team who will give you a copy of our NewsSheet and any hymn books you may need. Inside the Church you will be able to spot our Stewards (they move about more than the congregation!) – they are the people to ask if you want to know more about our Church.

All morning Services are simultaneously broadcast on YouTube (bit.ly/SMCTube) and by telephone (audio only) – details on our weekly Service sheet.

Please join us as we worship God together.
