Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals
Details of the arrangements and possibilities for baptism, wedding and funeral services, including opportunities for refreshments etc. An idea of charges, how to arrange and what can be done ‘in house’ and what can be ‘brought in’.
Arrangements for all special services are made direct with the Minister, who advises and co-ordinates what the Church is able to provide. Contact the Minister direct with any enquiries.
Baptisms are normally arranged during a Sunday service, often a Parade when the young people are present. The baptism itself would generally form part of a 75 minute service, and the Link Room would be available for refreshments and socialising afterwards.
Weddings can be arranged at any reasonable time (subject to existing commitments for use of the premises) and the addition of appropriate decorations to the Church is possible. The Link Room would be available for refreshments and socialising afterwards.
Funerals can be arranged at short notice and and the Link Room would be available for refreshments and socialising afterwards.
Please note that no alcohol of any nature may be brought onto the premises for any purpose, including celebratory drinks.
Baptism & Confirmation
In baptism, parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start the child on the journey of faith and ask for the Church’s support. Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey when you affirm the faith into which you were baptised.
Weddings
Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England take place before God in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You’re welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church.
Funerals
A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world.
