Easter 2013
Our Easter Celebrations this year start on Maundy Thursday (March 28th) with a pre-booked meal (6:45 for 7:00pm) followed by Communion.
On Good Friday there will be a ‘Walk of Witness’ in Epsom, assembling in the car park opposite the Fire Station in Church Street at 9:50am and moving to an open air service in the Market Place at 10:30am, followed by refreshments at Epsom Methodist Church.
Churches Together in Epsom say “This year we are dramatising the events of Good Friday and the procession will be part of the drama, led by costumed actors. Church members are invited to take a lead as the crowd following Jesus on the road to crucifixion. We would love to involve as many people as possible in the procession, the gathering at the Council car park near the Fire Station and in the town centre.
Our vision is to include monologues, mime, narration, dialogue and the use of symbolic actions. We would like all who gather and walk to become part of the drama. When we meet in the car park we will recall Jesus’ trial and then travel to the town centre, led by costumed actors including Christ carrying a cross.
The procession will become a 1st century crowd and we would like church people to lead in responding with a simple refrain. In the town centre we will dramatise the crucifixion including lifting the cross. There will be musical input including singing hymns.”
SMC will also have our own Good Friday refreshments in the Link Room at 11:30am, followed by our Easter Meditative service at noon.
Our Easter Sunday our 10:30am service will include Communion.
